A Letter to Right America

how can you be contemptuous

in your behavior and language

relating to traits shared by members

of a group as a product of their common

heredity and cultural tradition,

when we have exerted power

over your minds and behavior,

not to mention your imitation

of our expressions of freedom,

while we have made your continuance in life
rich and richer,

through our performances

in the entertainment, corporate and

now political arenas of America,

it is this favorable attitude of one's self
that brings solace to me,
when faced with one lacking knowledge and courage,
one intolerantly devoted to his or her
own prejudices and opinions,
these people are afraid of the very things

they don't know and understand,
when truth be told,

you should be thanking people of color
